Yokefleet

Yokefleet Hall
Yokefleet Estate, Blacktoft Parish has historically been and continues to be a farming and village community. The alluvial soil found locally – composed of layers of silt from the River Ouse – has proven, with drainage, to be highly fertile over many centuries. Cereals, oil seed rape and peas are the main crops produced today. A considerable percentage of the land and properties within the Parish are owned by the Yokefleet Estate, which is managed by Savills in York who can be contacted through Matthew Watson on 01904 617824 or email: mwatson@savills.com.
Yokefleet Windmill
Yokefleet Windmill near the riverbank in Yokefleet was built in the early to mid 19th century and ceased to be a working mill in the 1870s due to cheaper imports from Europe.

Reuben Parker (basket maker), wife and six children were the last residents of the mill. Recently refurbished – thanks to a grant from Natural England – the mill is now used for agricultural storage and is owned by the Yokefleet Estate.
